People
Prof. Ian Graham
Ian Graham is a graduate of London University, and completed his PhD in Radio Astronomy at the University of Cambridge. He then went on to work for fifteen years in Germany, France and at the University of London in various fields of science and computing applied to archaeology.
In the mid-1980s he moved to the Computer Science Department of the University of Waikato New Zealand. There he was successively Chairman of Department, Professor, and Dean of the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. His teaching and research responsibilities were mainly in the areas of hardware and embedded software design applied to computer networks and parallel computing.
In 2001 he was the technical founder of Endace Ltd, a company specialising in hardware and software for computer network monitoring and performance measurement. He left the University to work full time as CTO of Endace in 2004, and in 2005 was Chairman of the company when Endace listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.
In 2011 Ian was recognised by the Institute of Professional Engineers of New Zealand as the New Zealand Engineering Entrepreneur of the year.
Ian worked as CTO and then Chief Scientist of Endace, and remained on the Board as a director and Chairman until he retired in 2013 when the company was bought by Emulex in 2013. He is now an investor in Lumacron, and serves on the Board as Chairman.
As Chairman of the Board, Ian ensures that company fulfills its obligations to shareholders by acting as a link between the board and executive management, while ensuring the company operates in accordance with its governance policies.
Alan McDade
With a background in electrical & electronic engineering, Alan has operated in the high-tech market for 20 years, with 15 of those in the communications segment. During that time he has held roles in engineering, technical support, field sales / marketing, business development, operations and executive level management. In these roles Alan has operated in both the UK and international markets.
As Chief Executive Officer, he has responsibility for the overall strategic and operational direction of the company through implementation of the board’s decisions and initiatives.
Alan also serves on the Board of Directors where he assists in ensuring the company operates in accordance with its governance policies.
Jed Martens
Jed is a graduate of Waikato University, New Zealand where he gained a first class honours degree in computer and mathematical science as well as completing post-graduate research in passive network monitoring. Since graduating Jed has held senior engineering positions with tier-1 telecommunications companies and most recently managed his own engineering services organization.
As Chief Technology Officer, Jed is responsible for delivery of the company‘s overall technology strategy and product roadmap, monitoring standards activity and technology trends to enable Lumacron’s best-in-class products.
Jed also serves on the Board of Directors where he assists in ensuring the company operates in accordance with its governance policies.
Dr. Declan Hegarty
Declan graduated with first class honours in Electronic Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin before completing his doctorate at the University of Glasgow. Prior to joining Lumacron, Declan worked for Agilent Technologies in their Telecoms Network Test Division, with Aliathon Technology on FPGA-based systems for Forward Error Correction and Packet Classification, on video processing with Cyviz AS and as a Staff Engineer with Maxim Integrated in their Mobility division.
As Chief Commercial Officer, he has responsibility for owning customer relationships, implementing marketing strategies and achieving the company’s sales targets.
Declan also serves on the Board of Directors where he assists in ensuring the company operates in accordance with its governance policies.
Ulises Hernandez
Ulises has served as Chief of Engineering since the company’s formation in 2014. In this role he manages all hardware and software development. Ulises also oversees overall product definition in response to market requirements.
Ulises is an experienced, talented and multi-disciplined engineer with more than 15 years of experience in the electronics industry where he has a proven track record for design, development, fault finding and issue resolution.
From 2000 until joining Lumacron, Ulises was employed at Aliathon Limited and Agilent Technologies as a Senior Design Engineer where he was involved in the development of FPGA based solutions for the telecom’s market. In these roles he acquired a broad range of skills in communications products, protocols and standards and designed FPGA systems that processed payloads up to and including 100Gb/OTU4 rates.
Ulises holds an MSc in Electronics & Electrical Engineering (Hons) and a Master’s thesis from The Zaragoza University.
